36 hours without my phone...

Review of the lab...
Technology is something that has a significant impact on social capital, whether in a positive or negative way. In my case, I found that being without my phone for 36 hours was a good thing. It made me connect more with what was going on around me, rather than being distracted by whoever I was chatting with on the phone. During my days without my phone, I was less preoccupied, and more talkative and present in the conversations I was having in real life. I enjoyed this lab immensely, and it made me think more about which was more important to me: having good, real life conversations and meeting new people face to face, or texting my friends at home. I've decided that if the text can wait, it will, if I'm spending time or talking to other people in real life.
Sunday
All right, this is getting pretty old...It's 7 o'clock in the evening, and I can't wait to get back to school to talk to my friends in person, since I can't text or call them! (My phone is actually dead at this point, ugh!) I spent some quality family time today, as we toured the campus of UNC Chapel Hill. I'm actually growing to like this "no phone" thing. It's nice to have one less thing to worry about, and I feel a lot more connected to the real world instead of distracted by what my friends are telling me over the phone.
Saturday
All day today was spent at a competition. It was very fun, and truthfully, I didn't even think about my phone! Not even once! I am beginning to feel more connected to the people around me...I've met several new people today, and can't help but wonder if I would have met them if I had been texting my friends from home. Probably not. I'm building social capital!!! Yayy!
Later...
I'm spending a lot of time in the car...and wishing I had my phone so I could be talking to someone besides my parents! I guess I'll just take a nap.
Day One...
So it has begun...36 hours without my phone. I'm still too busy to realize I'm going to be without it for 3 days! Oh gosh. I told my friend i would text her tonight...oh well, I guess that's not going to be happening. Hope she won't be too mad.
